My name is Riyad Ahmed, and I started MyGarageBlog after spending the better part of a year completely overhauling my own garage from the ground up.

I installed a new steel door, replaced a broken torsion spring (yes, with professional help — I’ll tell you when to call a pro), wired a LiftMaster opener, added insulation, and figured out why my safety sensors kept blinking red at 2am. I made a lot of mistakes along the way. I also learned things you won’t find in any manual.

Most garage door advice online is written by people who have never touched a garage door opener. It’s vague, outdated, or just plain wrong. I wanted to build something better — a resource written by someone who has actually done the work and dealt with the same frustrations you’re dealing with right now.

How I Write

Every article on this site is written to answer one specific question as completely as possible. I reference manufacturer documentation, NEC electrical codes, and UL 325 safety standards where relevant. I include real model numbers, real part numbers, and real cost estimates — not vague ranges that tell you nothing.

I also tell you when something is not safe for DIY. Torsion springs, cable drums, and high-voltage wiring are not beginner projects. I won’t pretend otherwise just to keep you on the page.
